El profesor J. A. Gallego comenta en este artículo la fi gura del sacerdote y erudito   María Amor Ruibal (1869-1930), teólogo, filósofo, jurista y autor de una obra monumental, titulada Los problemas fundamentales de la filosofía y del dogma, publicada en diez tomos, entre 1933 y 1936, a título póstumo. El profesor Gallego rescata la fi gura de Amor Ruibal por una reflexión que plantea en los siguientes términos: el cristianismo escolástico delos siglos medievales, tomó de la filosofía griega muchos conceptos. Se dice de Santo Tomasque consiguió cristianizar al pagano Aristóteles. ¿Pudo haber tomado una senda diferente,  en el hecho mismo de la Revelación, sin pasarla necesariamente por Platón, Aristóteleso Plotino, cuyos derroteros no eran los del cristianismo? El profesor Gallego responde a esta pregunta comentando algunos aspectos de la obra del humanista y pensador, muerto en los años treinta. Amor Riubal se propuso, con brillantez y sencillez, la tarea de reescribir la historia filosófica del pensamiento cristiano.

Professor Gallego rescues the figure of Amor Ruibal through a refl ection that arouses his interest: the scholastic Christianity of the medieval centuries borrows many concepts from Greek philosophy. It is said of Santo Tomasthat he managed to Christianize the pagan Aristotle. Could he have taken a different path,focused on the very fact of Revelation, without necessarily going through Plato, Aristotle orPlotinus, whose paths were not those of Christianity?
