Una de las cuestiones que más atención está centrando a lo largo de esta crisis sanitaria es el papel de la Unión Europea. Una vez más el proyecto europeo se está viendo cuestionado. El presente artículo pretende examinar de manera breve cuál es la base jurídica de actuación de la Unión, así como estudiar en qué ámbitos puede producirse esta. En ese marco se analizan las medidas adoptadas por la Unión desde el comienzo de la pandemia hasta el momento de redactar este trabajo (abril de 2020). Se observa que el principal problema no es la inacción de la Unión, sino la limitación de sus atribuciones. Además, se comprueba que la Unión ha reaccionado rápido en aquellas parcelas en las que existía un marco de actuación consensuado previamente. 

Agreat deal of attention is being paid to the role of the European Union in the worldwide response to the COVID-19. Once again the European project is being questioned. This article aims to briefly examine the legal basis for action by the Union as well as to study in which areas it can occur. In this framework, the measures adopted by the Union from the beginning of the pandemic until the time of writing this piece (April 2020) are analyzed. It is observed that the main problem is not the inaction of the Union, but the limitation of its powers. In addition, it is found that the Union has reacted quickly in those areas in which there was a previously agreed framework of action.
