África progresa, pero al mismo tiempo sufre el flagelo de la desigualdad social, la pobreza endémica y la inseguridad. Hoy conviven dos Áfricas, una caracterizada por el crecimiento económico y los avances democráticos; frente a otra donde el terrorismo yihadista, el crimen organizado y los conflictos impiden cualquier progreso hacia la paz, la democracia y el desarrollo. África debe acometer una profunda transformación que fortalezca las oportunidades y supere los desafíos; y en este camino, la Unión Europea debe ser, por solidaridad y por su propia seguridad, un aliado cada vez más firme y determinante. 

Africa is rising, but also suffers the scourge of social inequality, endemic poverty and insecurity. Today two Africa live together: one is characterized by economic growth and democratic progress; and another one where jihadist terrorism, organized crime and conflict impede any progress towards peace, democracy and development. Africa must undertake a profound transformation that strengthens the opportunities and meet the challenges; and, in this way, the EU should become, for solidarity and for its own safety, an increasingly strong and decisive ally.
