Con ocasión de la rememoración del LXX aniversario del inicio de la Guerra Civil española, lo que es igualmente válido para el recuerdo histórico del LXX de su finalización, se reflexiona sobre la validez y el acierto de las pujantes corrientes historiográficas que hoy siguen manteniendo, acríticamente, la existencia de sólo dos (reaccionarios y revolucionarios), o, más recientemente, tres Españas (reaccionarios, reformistas y revolucionarios), en el primer tercio del siglo XX. Consta esta monografía de tres partes diferenciadas, a la vez que íntimamente imbricadas. En la primera, sobre Libertad, igualdad, guerra civil, se procura argumentar, con brevedad y en términos sumarios, acerca de los peligros y errores a los que conduce el empleo de tesis de análisis histórico tan reduccionistas, a la hora de examinar el período de nuestra Guerra Civil. Se acude, por ello, a algunas referencias biográficas, para dotar de vida y contrastar dichas interpretaciones en boga, tan peligrosamente sistemáticas y estructurales, y a fin de procurar entender, y encarnar –la historia es biografía, puesto que si ésta no existe, aquélla no es-, la lucha fratricida entre libertad e igualdad que desembocó en dicha contienda civil. En segundo lugar, Antón, el escultor del pueblo devorado por Saturno, amplía los datos biográficos de uno de dichos innominados protagonistas, un sencillo y jovencísimo escultor popular asturiano, de gran talento, cuya vida fue segada en 1937, y del que resulta imposible saber a cuál de las dos o tres Españas en liza perteneció. Por último, un anexo de Láminas, con la reproducción de algunas de sus esculturas, quizá pueda ilustrar que su autor fue una de las muchas, múltiples y variadas, y casi siempre contradictorias, Españas que naufragaron, violentamente, entre 1936 y 1939, y de las que los historiadores deberíamos dar testimonio, sin engañosos apriorismos sistemáticos y reduccionistas, por muy brillantes y bellos que, en principio, puedan resultar.

On the occasion of the remembrance of the LXX anniversary of Spanish Civil War, what is equally true for the historical memory of the LXX it is finished, we reflect on the validity and success of the burgeoning historiographical trends continue to hold today, uncritically, the existence of only two (reactionaries and revolutionaries), or, more recently, three Spains (reactionaries, reformists and revolutionaries), in the first third of the twentieth century. It, this monograph, has three distinct parts, while intimately entwined. In the first, on Liberty, Equality, Civil War, seeks to argue, briefly and in summary terms, about the dangers and mistakes leading to the use of historical analysis thesis as reductionists, when considering the period of our Civil War. It comes, therefore, some biographical references, to give life and contrast these interpretations in vogue, so dangerously systemic and structural, in order to try to understand, and embody -history is biography, because if it does not exist, the latter not-, the fratricidal struggle between freedom and equality that led to the civil strife. Secondly, Anton, Sculptor of People devoured by Saturn, extending the biographical data of one of those unnamed protagonists, a simple and very young Asturian popular sculptor of great talent, whose life was cut short in 1937, which is impossible to know which of the two or three Spains at stake belonged. Finally, an annex of Sheets, with a reproduction of various of his sculptures, perhaps it can illustrate that its author was one of many, many and varied, and often contradictory, Spains that wrecked violently, between 1936 and 1939, and whose the historians should give testimony, without preconceived ideas, systematically misleading and reductionist, however brilliant and beautiful that, in principle, may result.
