La lógica que atraviesa y da sentido a este ensayo es que las diversidades culturales han estado ausentes de la tribuna que ha dado contextura al discurso de los derechos humanos hasta momentos muy recientes. Las diversidades culturales no son contrarias a la universalidad; más bien son una mediación de ésta. Ello implica entender que toda universalidad está transida de particularidad y que toda particularidad tiene un depósito de universalidad, como trasfondo esencial para dialogar con las diversidades. El problema que tratamos de combatir es toda expresión de particularismo disfrazo de universalidad. Uno de los grandes retos de este texto es avanzar hacia esa síntesis fructífera y fértil, en el espacio de las diversidades culturales y sus derechos, que es la construcción de la interculturalidad. Para lograrlo, el discurso de los derechos humanos no es enormemente útil puesto que supone una mediación fundamental para ubicar las exigencias de las diversidades culturales, en la medida que expresa con nitidez las desposesiones individuales y colectivas que grupos y pueblos han sufrido. También implica un elemento de auto y hetero limitación, perfiles y principios que constituyen el núcleo del debate intercultural.

The logic that goes through and makes sense of this paper is that cultural diversity has been absent from the rostrum that has texture to human rights discourse until very recent times. The cultural differences are not contrary to the universality, but rather it is a mediation. This involves understanding the whole is imbued with particularity universality and particularity all have a reservoir of uni versality, as essential background for dialogue with diversity. The problem we are trying to fight is any expression of particularism disguise of universality. One of the great challenges of this text is to move towards this synthesis fruitful and fertile in the area of cultural diversity and their rights, which is the construction of multiculturalism. To achieve this, the human rights discourse is not really useful because mediation is a key to locate the requirements for cultural diversity, as clearly expressed by the individual and collective dispossession groups and peoples have suffered. It also involves an element of self and hetero limitation, profiles and principles that form the core of intercultural debate.
