La Iglesia española y el conservadurismo han presentado una seria tendencia declinante desde la caída del Antiguo Régimen. Los intentos de reversión han tenido en España efectos muy limitados. La Universidad española sigue directrices no conservadoras desde el último tercio del XIX. El período de no modificó de modo eficaz esta tendencia. La influencia de la izquierda ha aumentado notablemente durante los últimos años.

The Spanish Church and conservatism have had a remarkable declining trend since the fall of the Ancien Régime – Reversal attempts have had limited effects in Spain – The Spanish University has followed non-conservative guidelines since the last third of the 19th century - Francoist policies were short-lived in cultural and academic terms – The influence of the left has increased notably in recent years.
