El conflicto en Siria ha estado presente en la mayor parte de los medios durante los últimos tiempos. En este artículo se analizará la política exterior estadounidense hacia Siria enmarcada en el proceso conocido como “Primavera Árabe” a través de un análisis de los discursos, documentos estratégicos y hechos de la Administración Obama y se expondrá porqué el resultado final, fue una solución diplomática, no una intervención militar como en Libia. A pesar de concluir que la doctrina de la Responsabilidad de proteger no puede darse necesariamente por acabada, la política exterior de la Administración Obama hacia Siria ha dado lugar a una nueva política hacia el Próximo Oriente marcada por el realismo político. 

Syria´s civil war has focused the attention of the Media during the last years. In this article the American Foreign Policy to Syria is analyzed in the context of the process of change called “Arab Spring”, using the different speeches, Strategic documents and the facts of the Obama Administration as a pillar to expose the reasons of a fi nal result, which consisted in a Diplomatic solution, not a military intervention as the case of Libya. In spite of concluding that the Responsibility to Protect Doctrine can not necessarily be considered as ended, the Obama Administration Foreign Policy to Syria has produced a new policy for the Middle East which follows the Political Realism as a guiding philoshophy.
